Nyt on taas ihan kämänen keli ja lumikin hupeni uhkaavasti, mutta onneksi parhaillaan on lämpötila laskemassa pakkasen puolelle ja talvi voi taas jatkua! Kun sitä lunta oli vielä enemmän maassa, monen muun tavoin myös minä kaivoin innoissani kaapin perukoilta valjaat ja liinat esiin.
Ainakaan tietääkseni Patrik ei ole ikinä vetänyt harrastusmielessä (remmissähän se oli kova vetämään kun meille tuli), joten kun valjaissa oli kokematon seniorikoira, laitoin perään vaan kevyen pulkan. Valjaina toimivat nuo vanhat länget ja minun niihin tekemät uudet remmit. Lisäksi yhdistin siihen tuollaiset vanhat nahkavaljaat, jotta narujen kiinnitys olisi helpompi ja valjaat tukevammat.
Patrik veti alusta asti hienosti, arvelin että se voisi hyvinkin pelätä valjaita ja vetoliinoja, mutta ei se ollut milläänsäkään. Kuunteli käskyjä loistavasti ja lähti vetämään reippaasti mun edellä hyvää ravia, kun annoin luvan lähteä.
Not the weather is all crappy again and the snow seems to be melting, but luckily it's starting to freeze again and the winter can continue! When we still had more snow, I was one of those people who was excited to take the harnesses and tuglines out of closet.
As far as I know, Patrik has never bulled anything as a hobby (well, when we got him he did pull while taking a walk on-leash). So since I had un-experienced and old dog, I only attached a plastic pulka to tuglines. The harnesses are a combination of old collar, some new leather straps that I made and another leather harnesses. This weird combination was made so that it would be firmer and tuglines would be easier to attach.
From the very beginning, Patrik pulled very well! I thought that he could easily be afraid of the harnesses or tuglines, but he didn't care at all. He listened to my commands and trotted dozens of meters ahead me when I told him to go.
Pari videota. Toisessa istuin pulkan kyytiin estämään sitä jyräämästä koiraa ja testatakseni, miten Patrik suhtautuu kun emäntä istuu kyydissä eikä juoksekaan perässä.
